Attended by:

Raiden, Commander. (leading)
Hoagie, Mercenary Sergeant.
Kas Valentine, Veteran Mercenary.
Ludwik Bloodaxe, Mercenary.
Rush Sykes, Mercenary Recruit. (joined near the end)

The Meer settlement of Lakeshire had sought the Company's services in taking care of a few problems that had been plaguing the town, namely brigand and ratmen raids and attacks by an undead dragon. I decided it would be best to fortify the settlement and make a base of operations from which we could tackle these problems one by one so, once gathered, the Company set out on it's mission with a pack mule laden with guard post building supplies.

The journey to Lakeshire was without incident, though no sooner had we entered the settlement than Kas had picked a fight with a local. Kas doesn't seem to be everyone's favourite mageling at the moment but he's one of us, so we beat the Meer to the ground and slipped his body into the shadows before the incident was discovered.

We set about the construction of the guard post (which had a dodgy door) and were soon joined by one of the Meer elders who offered us the services of a local guide to lead us to the brigand and ratmen's hideouts. She was a big lass, the guide. About eight foot tall all told and pretty I suppose, If you like that kind of thing and once I was satisfied the settlement was secure we went in search of our prey.

The brigands were hold up in a deserted tower and were easily taken care of. The ratmen were a little tougher proposition as they swarmed about us. With Kas holding the fort we couldn't rely on his magic but Hoagie, Lud' and myself were no match for the cheese-eaters and it didn't take us long to thin their numbers and clear the ruins where they made their home.

Unfortunately our guide had taken a nasty flesh wound and headed back to Lakeshire under her own steam *shifty eyes* as we were clearing the ruins so we made our retreat and headed back to our guard post. As we trudged through a snowy copse we were ambushed by more ratmen and a pack of wild wolves but again they were no match for the Company.

When we got back to our fortification it appeared that Kas was up to his old horse murdering tricks as we saw our pack mule slain and mutilated. He pleaded his innocence but we had our doubts. No wonder the bloody unicorns attacked him. We took a little rest, Hoagie and I shooting some dice with me winning before setting out to face the undead dragon. It was at this point that the bloody Meer elder tried changing the monetary terms of our contract. He was trying to swindle us the bastard so we showed him what happens to those who try to double cross the Company by giving him a good kicking.

He soon remembered exactly how much he was paying us and the miserable git was lucky that we still agreed to vanquish the undead dragon. We dismantled our guard post and set off in search of the skelly's lair. Ludwik had been dismissed at this point and we were joined by a new recruit Rush Sykes. We made our way carefully through the cavern where the undead dragon was said to dwell. Bastard! It wasn't long afore we found it, the great big golden bugger! That bloody Meer never told us it was a goldie! I had a good mind to go back and torch his bloody settlement myself.

The four of us skirmished the dragon as best we could but it was soon apparent that a force twice our number would be needed to slay it. However not to be outdone by an undead dragon, even a golden one we soon fixed it's wagon by coaxing it into a narrow portion of the cavern where it's boney frame became entwined with the stalactites and stalagmites of it's lair. We promptly taunted it to be sure it was truly ensnared before heading back to the barracks.

Mission accomplished! Another Covian Victory!

For the Company and for Cove!
