Aint'choo been promoted yet, Recruit? Ghuh. Well hop to it! What d'ye mean ye need a trial? BAH! Maybe after dis promotion ye can get out of my house?

Task One: Leadership
~ Lead a training explaining the basic Combat and Drill Commands, and how to greet and address an Officer, Clergyman, and the Baron.
~ Make sure that everyone in attendance is able to execute these Commands quickly and precisely.
~ At least 3 other Mercenaries must attend.

Task Two: Combat
~ Lead some sort of war game, such as Red vs. Blue, Capture the Crate, or Combat Hide And Seek.
~ Help those present learn how to work well together and coordinate their attacks, as well as follow orders with speed and precision.
~ At least 3 other Mercenaries must attend.

Task Three: Abigail Keres
~ I hear my Sister likes reading. I want you to locate a library and make copies of any interesting books you find, and deliver them to Abigail for her entertainment. Lets see something better than "A Guide To Guilds", eh?
~ You may perform this task alone, or with a group.

The more creative the execution of the task and writing of the report, the more likely I am to remember to put you up for promotion.
If you complete these tasks by next Sunday, I will lend you a sizeable amount of money to locate a home for yourself.
If you fail these tasks, you're not only fired but also forbidden to see Abigail again.
A full report must be completed for each task.
Tasks One and Two may be completed together.

Torrak: As far as I'm concerned, though, EA is just unauthorized modding BoC.

Report: Learning Leadership

In Command and Reporting:
Leander Le Blanc, Mercenary Recruit

Present in the Company:
Kal Shadowhand, Officer Cadet
Abigail Keres, Mercenary Recruit
Pippa Reed, Mercenary Recruit
Valkur, Mercenary Recruit

Date and Time:
On the Evening of the 22nd of March

The first task the Corporal set me was leading the company in training. The sun’s rays had just turned pale. I ventured around the Baron’s Household and rustled up any members of the Company that I could find, so that they might aid me in completing my trial. ‘Twas was my first time being the commanding officer for a training and my nerves were running high.

Before we began, I made certain the Company knew how to address their superiors. I began with our heroic, virtuous, and Avatarian Commanding Officers. Then I explained how to speak to our High Sovereign the Baron, whose manorial rights hath been divinely ordained by decree. I ensured they knew the proper way to address our Priests and Templi, most noble knights of breed and favorite vassals of Higher Being who art forward and fierce in battle. I hadst also made mention of our Sisters the Clergywomen.

I began drill by refreshing the Company on all tactical orders.

Luckily I hadst been blessed with an elite drill team. I only needed to explain the basic commands once, and before I knew it, the Company was performing left, right, and about faces with perfect step, timing, and precision.

After sounding off, I asked the men to form on me, fall in line one pace from me, adorn their battle gear, present arms, salute arms, and maritime march. We drilled in both battle gear and in sharp Covian parade attire. I inspected uniforms to ensure buttons and boots were polished, and equipment was well maintained. After a final crisp salute, I told the Company to be at ease and dismissed them shortly thereafter.

Report: Composed Combat

In Command and Reporting:

Present in the Company:
Kal Shadowhand, Officer Cadet
Abigail Keres, Mercenary Recruit
Pippa Reed, Mercenary Recruit
Valkur, Mercenary Recruit

Date and Time:
On the Evening of the 22nd of March

Once drill was over, and our patrol of the borders that eve nigh, I hadst decided to tackle my second task so that we might get in a few rounds of combat practice. Half of the company adorned robes of crimson and the other half outfitted themselves in robes of cerulean.

We formed tacticals, where I helped my team coordinate their attacks. I conjured a magical wall of stone and upon its descent, the opposing sides had a whack at each other.

It was a learning experience. Amongst our peers we discussed what tactics worked and what ones didn’t. What techniques we shouldst use and what ones we shouldst avoid. As the rounds progressed and battle heated up we gained a deeper understanding of each other and our skills. We switched sides, tried different combinations, and stressed the importance of following tactical orders.

I hadst gotten my head handed to me a fair few times. In sooth, ‘twas quite a humbling and physically painful experience, but when the war game is over the Company art all bosom friends. As fun as it would have been to keep brandishing blades, or in my case, spells, at one another it was time to prepare for the parade anon. Overall, it was an action packed and educational game of “Red versus Blue” and a nice warm up exercise for the impending patrol of Cove’s borders.

Report: Larceny in the Library

In Command and Reporting:
Leander Le Blanc, Mercenary Recruit

Present in the Company:
Pippa Reed, Mercenary Recruit

On the 22nd of March,

methought ‘twas time for a trip to the library. Torrak wanted me to collect a few pearls of wisdom for his fair sister Abigail who, like me, loves to read. With Pippa at my side we decided: “what better place to find tomes than at the library of Britannia’s Capital?” One moongate’s journey later and we were entering the double doors of the extensive Britain library. There were two cluttered stories overrun with towering oak bookcases. Bustling scholars of various ages scoured the shelves for digestible knowledge. Pippa and I split up so that we might cover as much of this extensive collection as we couldst.

I came across a most libelous display of sin and indulgence in one section. The shelves were stuffed with vulgar Fableau and bawdy tavern ballads by the armful. Lusty indeed! I unpacked a stack of them on a nearby table and poured over them by candlelight. I must admit some of them made me laugh aloud, much to the dismay of the people around me who glared daggers at me, looking thoroughly molested. ‘Tis so like Britain to have books recounting the life of a pox ridden groom that had a passion for horse buggery or the sheet-music of a minstrel whose talent lies in belching tunes.

In another I found some most intellectually stimulating religious texts. As I read a former Abbot’s sermons recorded in a manuscript by scriveners, I remembered the day Avatar ascended with pity and suffering for our Maker. I poured over these manuscripts for nearly an entire candle-mark and prayed Higher Being forgive me for being in a library like this. Though I do love literature I force myself to remember that worldly joy is, after all, just a fleeting dream and my true love must be rooted only in Him.

On another shelf I found a glorious collection of sonnets and scattered verses. recounting the experience of the tortured poet and his lovers true. They contained stories that spoke of maidens with golden hair and eyes brighter than the radiant west. The woman contained in these sonnets seemed to hath sprung forth from Paradise itself. Adorned in gold and pearls, with an angelic breast and arrow figure, everything down to the last strand of hair seemed divine.

I rendezvoused with Pippa and she hadst found some most clever and grim tales by one Argent Crane, whose story “My Cremation” left me feeling quite uneasy. We pocketed those first edition original manuscripts for Abi.

I “collected” a series of aptly penned poems into my open satchel, then threw it over my shoulder. Between the two of us, Pippa and I hadst found an impressive sampling of texts for Abigail to enjoy. So, we set home for Cove. I found Abigail in the Barracks and smiled crookedly as I presented her with the sack full of fresh new reading material. She looked quite pleased, but I chose to omit the fact that I hadst obtained the leaves with sticky fingers!
