Report Compiled byLeander Le Blanc, Mercenary Recruit
On the Tuesday night of March 17th,
We fell in on the roof of the barracks to perform our compulsory training duty for Cove and Commander Morana did his duty by making sure the company was fit for military use.
As we stood at attention, straightening our posture, we prepared ourselves for physical, technical, and psychological training.
First, we prepared for inspection. As we presented our parade arms, the Commander made certain our kits were in order.
Next 'twas time to shed our cumbersome armor and do a bit of sparring. I got paired with Jane and that lass smacks hard! The only thing I use my hands for it trying to snatch people's weapons. I expect I must have looked hopeless as I swatted at her.
Next twas time to sprint round the training arena. Nay time to pace ourselves, we just needed to run the five laps as fast as our legs could carry us! With my thighs burning, I dropped to the ground with the rest of the line and began doing push-ups, counting each one out loud. The dusting of dirt on the arena floor made for increased intensity.
Once the push ups were done, it was time to flip over and do sit ups. My hip flexors, abs, and buttocks could feel the burn! After that we ran double-time down to the pond for a bit of swimming. The water was freezing cold, but felt oddly refreshing on my strained joints. The enjoyment did nay last long however, because in a moment the Commander had us treading water. After my laps were done my lungs felt like they'd cave in. I gasped for air as I pulled my body out of the water.
Finally, twas time for a bit of rock climbing -- fully armored. My sympathy went out to those of us who were mail clad. After tugging on my mountain scaling boots, I reached for the nearest rock cluster and hoisted myself up as far as I could. As I clambered up the rocky wall, I loosed pebbles and dirt and could only close my eyes and pray and make avow to Higher Being and Avatar's omnipotence that I might return to the ground safely.
To conclude training, we ran laps of the Cove walls, then fell in line at the Bank. We saluted and were dismissed. However, we kept our formation and guide, for the time hadst come to see through our relief efforts in the city of New Haven.
With all said and done, a marvelous and rigorous training session was instrumented. I can feel my pampered Arcanist body tightening, toning, and hardening.
Physical excellence for Cove and the Company!*Signed crisply*
