Appearance: Kas Valentine is a friendly man of roughly thirty six years of age, although due to the impeccable condition of his skin he is often mistaken to be a lot younger. Immediately (and unforgettably) noticeable due to his shock of incandescent red hair, he is quite a unique sight. With bright blue eyes that betray his uncontrollable excitement and constantly jubilant mood, he is a boyishly handsome specimen.
 
Attached to his head is a largely unremarkable body with broad shoulders and the beginnings (or foundation of) a pot belly. However "the Guardian makes work for idle hands", as the phrase goes, and this is certainly true where Kas is concerned. The four fingers of his right hand are almost religiously clutched around his spellbook, "Kal Vas Corp", at all times. The neighbouring fingers on his left hand are often grooming or fidgeting in some way. The hands themselves are slender but slightly podgy around the digits even despite their frequent use.
 
He is rarely out of his Covian uniform, despite its incredibly tatty condition.

A single cut across his right eyebrow resulting from a Yewish beating.
Three pock marks along the bridge of his nose resulting from a dog bite.
A garish scar in the center of his chest in the shape of the letter "A".
 
Background: As a general rule Kas is often vague about his history prior to enlisting with the Baronship. This is not for any particular reason (or so he will tell you). The fact is that his memory is so frazzled that recalling the past with anything approaching clarity is nigh impossible. Regardless of this, what he will disclose is that he grew up in Britain: the flower of Britannia. He spent a good number of happy years in the capital before electing to "find a trade" and make a name for himself.

This search eventually led him to Cove which was under siege from Orcish at the time. Over the coming weeks Kas involved himself with some philanthropists who were currently on the lookout for a group worthy enough to donate a nearby plot of land to. They enlisted Valentine to count the heads of various guilds currently battling in order to determine which was the most dedicated to the small town. At the end of the week he turned in his findings and the Baronship (being the clear winners) received the land that would soon become the now legendary barracks building.

He enlisted shortly afterwards.

Since that day Kas has become so attached to Cove that he will frequently comment that it is in his blood and only death will take him from it. The years have been fraught with countless adventures. From the highs of campaign victories and the creation of the Arcanist Division, to the lows of criminal accusations and gruelling pilgrimages at the behest of the Avatarian church. He has made many close friends during his service, at home and abroad, the thin line that separated his professional life from his social activity is now a blur. In private and in public his life revolves around the Baronship.

Personality: The main characteristic of Valentine's personality is that he is tremendously unstable. Not in any specific mental or physical capacity, it's just difficult to predict how he will react at any given moment. With that aside he is an incredibly friendly person, often found in the depths of conversation with total strangers and vicious enemies alike. He has a strong love for anything female as the result of a deep maternal bond with his mother. His love of the spoken and written word is renowned, an artist with both tongue and pen (in his own opinion if no-one elses). This love, as well as every other facet of Kas' personality, is governed by a gargantuan ego. Nothing and no-one is greater than the almighty "KV", as he often refers to himself. However, he is surprisingly open and good humoured about his blatant narcissism, a quality which has endeared him to many.
 
The downfall of Kas' character is that he is something of a chameleon as far as social issues are concerned. While capable of being a tremendously charming gentleman, he is frequently unscrupulous. If he decides he wants something, he will seek it out, or do it. If he likes the sound of an offer, despite risks or conflicts with other areas of his life, he will accept only so long as he can maintain the veneer of innocence. A large element of selfishness exists within his interaction with other people, being widely known for his sudden disappearances and at times, plain ignorance.
 
If you could dismantle Kas into individual pieces you would not find this aspect since he is essentially a good person. Unfortunately this honest core is often overlooked as he is easily led and equally as easily distracted. A strong aversion to responsibility leads him down a lot of roads blindfolded as he searches for the right leader. He has no qualms whatsoever about following orders and is often far happier when this is the case.
 
Magic (and the practice of it) is another of Valentine's great loves. Some people have even joked that it is more important to him than life itself, such is the strength of the bond. He is always making use of the Arcane in one form or another, whether it is to entertain or antagonize. When this ability is paired with the aforementioned ego Kas becomes a fearsome (but cheerful) opponent on the battlefield. Almost allergic to loss he frequently hones his strategies to stay ahead of the curve.

He has two daughters; Ravanas with the late Gracenda Arroway and an adopted twelve year old from New Haven by the name of Dolores Haze.
