Raiden eyed the overgrown cat as he scrawled on the back of an old chart he'd found in his pack. Only in the Swaggers... Pink ale and a bloody kitten the size of an horse. At least it wasn't that rulk shite he was drinking but it still tasted like piss...

The note he was scrawling was addressed to Baron Octiovus no less and for the second time during his career in the Covian army, he was about to resign his commission.



The night had started well enough. A few tales shared with Tibby and the casual poking of fun at Trinsicans and Vesperians alike but once the merry making had subsided, Raiden enquired around the tavern about the whereabouts of his wife and child. None had seen or heard of his love, Railen and their child Ryan. Not for years. Left or lost, there was nought in the way of information about their whereabouts or health.


Old ones are the best!



He had become an Exploring Officer to take them out of harm's way. Fleeting visits and stolen moments all he had with them during those first few months... Then less and less and now no more...

The family home in ruin. Whether ransacked by thieves or assassins, none knew. His heart heavy with guilt and grief he hammered the note to the wine cellar door. Walking through the shire as rain began to fall, Raiden unbuckled his dust caked leathers, letting them fall as he walked on.
