Thursday 7Th June

A fire! It seems a detachment of Covian guardsmen and his Liege the Baron Octiovus Von Richter ,along with cohort from The Guardsmen Militia of Yew, took a stroll to Vesper this night. For what purpose has not become clear but it no doubt has something to do with that election and good old fashioned Covian pissing in the tea. Well they did more than that it seems, right took a shite in the pudding. Torched a library and for what reason is anyones best guess. Wish I'd known that before I skipped off to Vesper. I knew we where in a tense relationship but I nay expected to be turned back the moment I arrived, despite offering medical aid and being unarmed or armoured. A gaggle of them chatting up an Orc. . . disgusting really but Piper was there. . . good to see she was alright, in fact I was a bit suprised by how good that made me feel. We briefly exchanged words, some of our usual flirtations though I didn't go too deep with a handful of angry bears staring at me. . one of her ex-lovers also casually leaned up on a structure. No this wasn't comfy at all. . . . damned idjits burned a library, a LIBRARY! A Covian never met a book he could read. . . .

I hightailed it out of there and opened meself a gate as soon as I broke line of sight, Piper had already threaten'd the lot of em but Orcs. . threaten'd? Nah never, was best to be hasty. Got back to Cove and popped into the Goblin for a bottle of the clear stuff. Not my usual but war on the horizon, chance of having to stab friends in the face cause some arsey Sergeant or Templar told me too. . . yea, its gonna be one of them years. Guess I'll stock bandages, slings, and make sure the saws are sharp. Going to be a grim red year.

Friday 8Th June

Out on my usual late night strolls, I don't sleep, wouldn't sleep tonight anyways. Still reeling from the news when a winged plague smacks me square in the noggin' and starts pecking like something mad! It were a messenger, from Piper no less.  That was well and good: "Marcus, come to vesper, I've a little home just before the sands... meet me there and we could talk privately..." - Piper

Well well well, private eh? Oi stop thinking with yer little soldier! Anyone could send a letter right? Why though? Questions rushed my head like blood rushed to my legs thinking about the possibilities. Well I decided to prepare for anything so I changed clothes again but this time I wore enough armour to keep me alive if I had to actually run for my life.

I set off immediately after that wee precaution towards the Vesper beach. Pleasant suprise, Piper there waiting for me, lit only by a lantern hanging nearby, Avatar's blood are women supposed to be that attractive at midnight? Maybe I was just relieved it was her and not a Vesperian death squad? Well I was tantalized, and so far this wasn't like one of them penny trash novels yer get in Brittain or even like any dream I ever had about women waiting for me by lantern light. . . Only one way to know, been flirting for ages yet at the same time she might just want a talk. Probably just wanted a talk.

Well aye we talked, we shared some hard truths about whats to come. We agreed not to talk about what one side might do or the other, we aren't traitors. . though things we said, might be turned against us later if anyone knew them. We talked for hours, then we flirted like usual. . . yet then there I was in her bed doing the Lords work as far as I knew or cared. Stayed till near morning, and off into the shire like some sneak thief I went before the bears started to prowl. I predict good humors all around for atleast a week, Doctors order "Visit as needed."

This is going to be so much trouble. . . so so so much trouble.

Tuesday 3rd July

Been visiting Pip for something like a month now, been damned glorious if yer asked me, despite the political tensions, and even that vain ijit she has the misfortune of calling her ex-husband;I've managed to go unscathed. Not a fist throw, a voice raised, or a weapon drawn on me since that first time right after the fire. Then the other night I run into Tereleith being stopped and questioned by the Vesperians, didn't recognize her but that name seemed familiar. . . "Don't know her" I told them, was the truth but it nagged at me, maybe it was the similarity in names? Maybe I'd seen her before but not much? I made a note of that name. Had me rum at the Swagger's then made the night very memorable by getting introduced to Pip's new diggs.

That name nagged me still so into the barracks I slipped during the night. Wasn't sneaking perse but I felt better knowing nobody was around whilst I perused the administrative files of the Recruits and Watchmen. Luckily some soul has organized these things or else I'd be digging through three-hundred plus profiles just under the heading Watchman alone. I found the one I wanted "Tereleith - Watchman" Joining date, re-joining date? (Odd sure), Date of promotion, requirements for promotion fulfilled (Not much really) I copied the file and had Arlas the Quartermaster stamp an Army Seal on it, it was late, he hardly even questioned me after spotting my rank. . .  This almost feels treasonous. . . but I feel giving up this small tidbit of nearly worthless information could quell further tensions, so long as we nay burn anything else down. Avatar protect us from ijit Grenadiers, Aumen.

Went over to Swagger's Night tonight, there was Pip, but I didn't want to hand this thing to her in front of anyone just wanted her to have the info, not carry evidence of theft from the Covian archives, so she sat in my lap and we swigged a few ales when suddenly the Redguard ,bedecked in old Vesper militia uniforms (Reminded me of my teens really,) went out to the armoury. Pip led me over but left me outside (Business and all that.)

Myra arrived, one of her kids, good lookin' like her mum, something a bit cold in the eyes though if yer asked me. Some Vesperian soldier named Jess introduced herself whilst we waited when suddenly some civilian woman started being annoying and standing in the way, asking her to move along seemed to do nothing so I offering her some cash led her off, then told the twat to feck off! I thought it were all done right? Nah the twat actually tries to slice me! While my backs turned. Years of service paid off when, with but a single slash from my survival knife, I left her bleeding out on the ground. All well and good, Myra and this Jess obvious witnesses to my self-defense. Well Myra maybe, but that Vesperian was going on about how I'd "made a deadning" not a Avatar blessed care that I was -attacked- Myra seemed to realize I were going to be facing a very biased opinion of the incident and encouraged Pip (Who'd come out the armoury to see what the commotion was) to fix the woman up. Pip did rather well, got the woman up and moving, I was certain she were dead. . . I'm nay that rusty.

After a brief bit of work some of it obviously magic the woman groaned, stood shakily, and took of into the trees all jerky and shambly like. Blood loss problem? No no no, fecking far more sinister. But she done it for me. . . and obviously at great cost to herself. . .  Avatar protect us all I must have misunderstood her, maybe it was the ale, maybe it was my own blood loss. A good cut, I'd thought it was just a grazing. Pip fixed that up too and collapsed unconscious with the effort. I got her to come about and tried to cram a half dozen potions down her throat, doubt any of them helped. . . never dealt with this sort of thing before. Jess ran off, half of Vesper come out, none the wiser that I'd been attacked or that a woman had nearly died, was quite certainly dead despite walking around. . .  Pip went off to rest, she needed the recovery, asked me to go with her but really with our track record it would hardy have been rest, and I needed to think on all this. I fingered the admin file in my belt pouch, I'd have to give it to her later. We didn't need another "Tinglieth Incident."

Remember what I said about trouble, yep mhmmm, trouble.
