Tightening Security: Patrolling Rota - COMPLETED

In my push to become a Junior Guardsman I would like to undertake this sneakily challenging duty set by Captain Morana (Tightening Security). Patrols should be no longer than 20 minutes and a good opportunity to secure our land. I would welcome any support ye can give! The duty requires that a minimum of 3 guardsmen are in attendance on each patrol. I will pay ye in ale!

* Offensive chicken dispatched wandering around Barracks perimeter. For the record, it clucked at us first.
* Door blown off its hinges when checking Memorial Square for loiterers. Household Insurance to cover damages.
* Strange noises heard in Town Hall. Possibly haunted. Local gypsies will be summoned to exorcise in due course.
* To preserve her dignity, unnamed drunken but still attractive citizen found in The Cardinal Feather. Looked after and laid to rest.

I used my arcane powers to lift her body from the intoxication a bit and protect her from organic damage.

It seems she had been given either high percentage beverages or poisoned ones out of malice by a third person. Be very careful! We don't know what or who distributes these kind of drinks.

It concerns me that she was drinking with someone else. This now makes the lady in question a victim. We may have someone in the vicinity of Cove that gets women drunk and then perhaps attempts to have his (or her) way with them. Commander Hoagie is out of town, so I'm all out of suspects!

Perhaps we need a line up.

* Multiple vermin and low level monsters dispatched on the patrol route.
* Happened across local Altmere lass who said she had witnessed Commander Grayner being escorted away under duress by the Guardsmen Militia of Yew.
* Sang 'Folk of Altmere' to bolster local morale.
* Ventured to the home of Khaelieth, renowned citizen of Cove. The property was well kept but empty.
* Following the patrol, went running with Sergeant Sanderson. BAD IDEA.

* Prior to entering the desert we briefly discussed the whereabouts of Commander Hoagie Grayner. We came to the conclusion he has fallen victim to an under-cooked pie!
* The heat was unbearable!
* We dispatched countless numbers of scorpions and elementals.
* We happened upon some sort of 'sphinx' creature who gave out riddles.. As we didn't have enough of those at Sergeant Sanderson's Riddle Run!
* Made it to the Compassion Shrine and was assaulted by a band of orcs!
* On our return journey, Senior Drachen dropped us into a room with no doors..

Patrol Notes
* We had reduced numbers this eve (and for the hardest patrol). So few we were that Carolin Kazami, an innkeeper by trade but keen with the bow, stepped in to represent a Covian militia of sorts..!
* We could not take back the Graveyard. The Bone Knights were out in force and we used some Covian engineering to make a dent in the Undead forces.
* Both the Citizen and Senior Arcanist Drachen performed well from this vantage point dubbed.. 'The Assault Post'!
* The Graveyard is OUT OF CONTROL. It is my recommendation to Command that further patrols are dispatched there, and in greater force.

Patrol Notes
* After an exhausting training session led by Redguard Commander Esca Flowne, the Vesperians were kind enough to accompany us Covians on a patrol to the Orc Fort as scheduled in the rota. We completed a forced march from the Vesperian border.
* A sea of Red and Tan assaulted, with the Orcs struck by the swiftness and severity of the attack.
* Before they knew what was happening it had already happened. FOR THE NORTH!
* On returning to Swaggers Inn to thank the Vesperians for their aid, it was revealed that one of them was a former Kaldorian soldier. I could not contain my outrage.. A murdering bastard is allowed to walk freely. I took my leave. This will not stand.

Serj packed his combat gear away in the Barracks. It had been a hard week. Five patrols completed; two more to go to complete Captain Morana's gruelling challenge of tightening security around Cove.
What Serj had seen on these patrols had weakened his resolve somewhat. Sometimes there were too few guardsmen on duty to make the country safe. Other times, the Covian soldiers were bested by a stronger enemy. However, on his way from the Barracks to Cove he happened upon a deer.
The deer looked calmly at Serj. It had not been caught and eaten by an orc or another wandering monster. It did not seem startled or flustered. Serj walked up to the deer, which still did not move. A fine meal, he thought. But, instead, he smiled at the deer - and he let it live.

Cove was becoming safer.

* Junior Palmer and I constructed a sentry post to the south of the Graveyard, prior to the patrol, to increase Covian presence in the area and as part of the Building Base Watchman's Duty.
* We made some attacks on the Graveyard, engaging the Bone Knights. On one particular wave of attacks we came close to being overrun but OUT OF NOWHERE Junior Grenadier Styx appeared!
* After a few more waves, we patrolled the rest of the Shire - checking in on the Lakes and the Ruins. All was well.

Patrol Notes
* Turned up late to patrol dressed in my 'bard uniform'; had come from a gig in Minoc.
* We navigated Covetowne with the mantra, "Hearts and Minds". We engaged the citizenry with high spirits to boost local morale.
* Local citizenry had various errands that needed helping with. Some of them we saw to (Senior Drachen escorted a noble to Moonglow), others we couldn't assist too greatly (a bride that was left at the altar, terrible..!).
* Carolin had concerns over the Covian Bank and it's loan interest rates.
* Junior Palmer and I were perplexed by oddly stacked haybales.
* We finished the patrol atop the Covian Wall. Whilst it has been beaten up over the years, we stood watch.

All was well.
