Saturday 10th December 2005, 2000 GMT

Guards in attendance:
Delcarakdur (Leading)
Hoagie
Constantius
Talpa Europaea
Kal Shadowhand
Althalus
Kas Valentine
Rupert Ridir

Before we fell into line for the expedition, Delcarakdur ordered that we collect at least ten crates each for the mission to share the load of resources that would be needed for the camp.  None amongst our group was a crafter unfortunately, so we found ourselves in somewhat of a predicament.  Kas Valentine was able to remedy the situation by creating a magic portal next to the Covian gate and travelling through it only to return with an armful of crates, plenty for everyone.

We collapsed the crates, tied them to our packs and returned to Delcarakdur's formation outside the barracks.

The group sets off to the ruins

There was a bit of trouble in the line up, with one of our group apparently muttering something about elves quietly under his breath.  This guard's ignorant view of the elven race shone even brighter in light of the fact that he was unaware that elves have superlative hearing.  Three of our group had elven blood in them, so surrounded this particular guard until he decided to flee out of fear of what may come next.

For those that remained, Delcarakdur issued the order for a forced march to the ruins between Cove and Vesper.

Delcarakdur comes up with a plan

The aim of the mission was to investigate the area surrounding the pentagram that was housed within these ruins and ascertain if it had any connection with the recent increase in Undead activity.  Night was drawing in and we were told we would be camping here until the morrow to monitor the pentagram and keep an eye out for any deadling activity.  The ruins were in a state of major disrepair, with intruders being able to get at us from many directions should they choose to.

Delcarakdur decided that we should use the crates we brought along to build a wall around the ruin, blocking up the fallen wall of the structure and creating a more defendable camp.

Delcarakdur loves it when a plan comes together, foo'

Everyone set to work at once, hammering the heavy crates together and draping them with the toughened hides of Covian deer.  Before long, every gap in the crumbling structure had been filled.  Delcarakdur seemed pleased with the finished job, so we put down our tools and picked up our weapons ready for the long night ahead.

A scout tests the structure's security

As we drew our arms, a scout appeared outside one of the walls of the structures and questioned whether or not we really thought the structure was secure.  In my opinion the structure was perfectly secure for the camp's needs.  It would adequately hinder an undead attack from any direction, giving the group time to ready arms and assume formation when they were alerted of the attack.  It was also fairly easy to break out of the structure, should any undead appear at the pentagram and we found ourselves overwhelmed from within the camp.

The camp is complete

With the camp complete, and guards assuming sentry positions at all corners of the structure, we settled in for a long night monitoring the pentagram.  I must admit all was so quiet that I drifted off at some point during the night.  We witnessed no undead activity at the pentagram that night, and there is nothing to suggest it is linked with the surge in undead presence.

Aha! A wonderful report Talpa, and some fine sketches.

Also, thank you Junior Delc for completing my task, many things have now become clear to me.

A well documented report, Watchman Europaea.
And a finely executed operation, Junior Delcarakdur.
