Dias was born on the outskirts of the town of Yew in a small house. His father was a guardsman of Yew and a well known swordsman throughout the town. He was a generous man who believed strongly in his government and fought hard for his country. Dias' mother was a tailor and made her money through selling her dresses to the local merchants.
Dias was always picked on growing up due to his dark skin, many of the other children called him drowish and other names to anger him. Coming home with bruises every day, his father decided to teach Dias how to fight. Being too young to properly wield a sword, and not wanting to actually kill anyone, Dias learned how to fist fight from his father. After several months of sparring with his father after work, Dias finally wished to test his skills. Although he was only 15 at the time, his father decided to take dias to the local pub to pick a fight with some drunk locals. Dias decided to insult the fattest, drunkest Yewian in the bar and it took only a few words to get the drunkard on his feet. The drunk sped for Dias with his right arm pulled back ready to swing, but Dias calmly stepped to his left and gave the charging madman an uppercut to the gut, than a swing to the jaw, and the drunkard fell to the ground knocked out cold. Instead of kicking Dias out, the bartender decided to give him free ales for the rest of the night.
Three years later, Dias' father was returning home from a late shift patrol through the city. He was walking with a friend of his who lived in a house not far from his, when the two were stopped by three bandits armed with daggers. One demanded the two throw down all their money and walk the other way, but being a proud man, Dias' father unsheathed his sword and charged for the closest target. The thug shrieked and thinking quickly, threw his dagger at Redd which ended up through Redd's throat. His body dropped to the ground, lifeless. "Look what you've done! Now we'll be wanted for murder!" One of the thugs shouted at the murderer. "I...I didnt know what else to do! What d'yer 'spect? I wasn' gun' let the bast'rd slice me up with that there sword!" he replied. "Bah!, your a damned idiot! I knew we shouldnt of taken yer along!" the other bandit chimed in, and soon the three were standing over the body arguing with each other. Frozen in place for a minute in shock, Redd's friend finally regained his senses and pulled out his kryss, throwing it at one of the bandits backs. He than ran up and grabbed the kryss from the limping body, slashed the thug in the throat to his right and stuck the kryss in the murderer's chest, twisting the blade to cause more pain to the target. The man than ran back to Dias' house and explained to the family what had happened. Shocked by the death of his father, Dias decided to leave his home and Yew to explore the world and find a purpose to his life. In shock, his mother had no complaints and Dias left the day after his fathers funeral.
After wandering the world for two years, sleeping on the streets, in the forests, wherever he could find lodging, Dias finally found himself in the city of Moonglow. Here he met a man named Raistlin Ma'jere, who took Dias into his home when he found Dias begging for food on the streets of the city. Raistlin was a tall man, well over 6'6 and had a large, white beard and long hair. His house was a library, the only furniture he had was a table, chair, two beds, and the rest was bookshelves completely filled. Having no prior schooling, Dias was fascinated by all the books and Raistlin decided to teach Dias how to read and write. Dias became Raistlins personal scribe, writing whatever Raistlin asked him too in exchange for lodging and food. the day came when Raistlin asked Dias if he had ever heard of magic. Dias had heard of mages and rewad about wizards in books, but he had never seen one in real life. Raistlin smiled and began a chant in a whispery voice, of a language Dias had never heard before. soon Raistlin's hands began to slightly glow orange, and Raistlin quickly spun around and shot a small fireball out of his hand toward a candle wick, lighting it instantly. Amazed by this performance, Dias begged Raistlin to teach him the ways of magic and Raistlin replied he would be more than happy to take Dias as his apprentice. For seven years Dias trained with Raistlin, learning as many spells and combinations as his master could teach. Finally, Dias felt ready to go out into the world again, so he said his goodbyes and left Raistlin and the city of Moonglow.
First Dias found himself in the port town of Skara Brae. Here he didnt find any use for his skills to be put to use, as the town was filled with mostly fishermen and traveling vendors. He than decided to hop on a boat, not really caring where it took him. As day turned to night, than day again, Dias began to wonder where he would end up. Suddenly, the boat began to shake violently, and knowing this wasnt a barrage of waves Dias ran up to the deck to see what was happening. He found a row of archers on one side of the boat firing arrows at a plethora of large tenticles waving from out of the ocean. "A KRAKEN!!!!" a man shouted as he emerged onto the deck, and suddenly was hit by a large tenticle and was knocked overboard. Knowing he had to do something to stop the beast, Dias walked up next to an archer still firing arrows and closed his eyes, holding his plams facing up. He began to chant and the skies began to darken as clouds began to form over the boat. The archer stopped firing and slowly turned to see Dias chanting his spell and shouted to the other archers "We 'ave a wizard on board! 'E'll surely 'elp slay this beast for us! Nay give up 'ope men! Aim fer the eye!" The archers than began to concentrate their fire on one of the large eyes of the beast and Dias than pointed at the Kraken. A large lightning bolt shot from the sky hitting the beast right in the beak, and the Kraken began to spasm uncontrollably in the water, and than was still. "Thank ye lad! Ye sure did 'elp us out...although we could of done it on our own...None the less, I nay let such an act go unrewarded, so 'ere" The archer captain handed Dias a puch filled with one thousand gold pieces. Dias smiled and decided he found a purpose in his life. The ship came into the port of the city of Cove, and Dias was amazed at the beauty of the town. He loved the surrounding forest and mountains, and decided he would settle in there. After several months of lodging at the inn, Dias decided to go out and join the cove militia, to give his aid for the country he now calls home.
