On a mild day for seafaring, several of the Covian Army were dispatched for assisting me in a Mapping Expedition of Isles that lay to the south of Cove, upon direct order from the Baronship Household.
It seemed that many were drawn with the hope of battle and what not adventure that was accustom to my previous rank of Commander. But of course, I knew too well that the drudgery and monotomy of many exploration pursuits was all that lay ahead.

Following a light introduction from myself, Officer Cadet Valentine organised the guardsmen into separate and distinct Squads. The hard working Cadet would be commanding the aspect of the Army, whilst I concentrated on chartering the foreign territories.
Following a bit of a slow start, we set off by ship to the south; and despite a few minor clashes with water elementals and such, we reached the southern isles unscathed. Various creaks from the Covian ship signalled that it may be a good idea to get off the vessel as soon as possible, and thus.. we anchored at the first point of our visiting.
Setting up post, Scout Sergeant Gryphonclaw deployed the Light Company, and the various Squad Leaders took charge of their guardsmen.
Following patrolling around the area, guardsmen chanced upon a mysterious being. It spoke in odd dialect, and wore enchanting clothing that seemed to shimmer. It warned of impending doom, and the arrival of frightening monsters. Though the Covian guardsmen were nay stirred by this, and following further exploration of the island, found no immediate threat.
The exploration party returned to the ship and set off to other nearby isles, and happened upon interesting structure but, for the most part, abandoned stations.. settlements of cultures long diminished.
Upon return to the main island that the exploration command post was stationed on, the party discovered that a Junior Guardsman left on sentry, Darath Mithar, had been grievously harmed by a creature of immense power.
Bolting into action at the sight of their fallen comrade, the Covian guardsmen armed their weapons and gathered their strength, as they traced tracks of the Evil they had overlooked.
Surely enough, it led to the mysterious being that had been met before. It seemed that it was unraveling treasure from the island, that which was called "Ocarina", and that the attempt at removing the precious items sprang forth ancient minions that would defend the booty at all costs.
The Covian guardsmen agreed to help this being, to which it was grateful, and took on minion after minion of deadly origin; until eventually, the alert of danger had passed, and it was time to return home.
The Southern IslesThe Southern Isles seem mostly abandoned, with no sign of prospering culture or lordship. The encounter with the mysterious being was off chance, though it seemed to be knowledgable in the great Evil that injured Junior Mithar.
Further investigation may uncover a solution to the mystery of the island known as "Ocarina", and whether it serves any potential use for the Baronship of Cove.
