"Wha's tha' ye say Perun lass... the Highlanders are no more!"

Raiden grips his maul tightly then releases his grasp with a sigh as the weapon clanks to the floor.

"Twas ter be expected I suppose. Meh brothers in arms have been scattered ter the winds it seems".

Opening his footlocker Raiden pulls out his old guardsman's uniform wrapped carefully in oil cloth and begins to unbuckle his Highlanders garb.

Leaving his house Raiden headed towards the Highlander headquarters. "Some old friends ter say goodbye ter." He said under his breath to no-one in particular.

Placing his bronze heater shield and helm atop the Highlander HQ with the Glenmore Mountains visible in the distance Raiden said his goodbyes ter his Highlander brothers in arms... gone but not forgotten... and maybe to return someday to once again serve the Baronship.

Back at his place Raiden still didn't feel quite right... he took a long look at his reflection in the water trough... a wild and grizzly face looked back.

"This calls fer a secret mission!" he said to himself.

Donning a suitable disguise Raiden set off to Bucaneers Den to the famed bath house there to wash away the grit and harshness of a mountain man... the external grit at least was cleansed.

Next a perilous trip to Brittain! A barber must be found to trim back his wild mop of hair and tidy up his grizzly beard. As Raiden sat in the barbers chair second thoughts did enter his mind when he saw his barbers... colourful crop of hair. But no turning back, Raiden needed a clean start.

A few short hours after he had left he returned home and took a look again at himself in the watertrough... A differen't person looked back. His long hair now tied back in a ponytail with a bowstring as a mark of respect for the Grenadiers, his original squad and it's recent history as a ranged unit. A neat goatee now replaced his gruff stubbled beard.

"Valentine has nay excuse fer nay pulling with meh next time we hits the tavern! How could he fail when he is out wi' such a handsome bugger as meh!" Raiden joked to his reflection with a chuckle.

As he tucked away his Highlander breastplate in oil cloth his old Grenadier's arms caught his eye as the sat proudly atop his shelves.

"I wonder..." Raiden pondered.[/i]

[ooc]Just a little piece to show Raiden saying goodbye to the Highlanders and to get his damn hair cut! - hope you like it Wink[/ooc]
