Essay - Why should I salute my superiors?

To answer that question one must know, what is a salute? A salute is not only an act of respect but also submission as an obeisance to your superiors. If a lowerranked person shows the proper amount of respect and submisson to his superiors, his gesture i.e salute will also be returned with respect and aknowledgement. The gesture can comprise of a lifting of the right hand to the head, beating fist on the chest or a "tip on the hat".
In the guild Baronship of Cove it is expected from subordinates to salute sharply to those higher in rank and address him or her according to gender with Ma'am or Sir

These gestures have a historical backround. One theory is that when two knights approached each other they lifted the visor of there helmuts to recognize or aknowledge each other. Another theory is to symbolize that one is not armed by showing an empty hand.

*Raiden reads the report*

Good job , good job.

Saluting, respect, acknowledgement of rank...

Superiors being addressed Ma'am and Sir...

Sounds like the message is getting through... Good!

It shouldn't have taken a flogging to do it though. *mutters*
