16  In Character Boards / In Character Board / A recruitin' we will go! on: August 09, 2007, 11:18:23 am
Led by: Zoie Hayden, Dragoon Corporal

Attended by:
- Thomas Sendrich, Regular Dragoon
- Dalamar, Regular Scout
- Garand, Junior Scout
- Kal Shadowhand, Church Servant
- Brandy Arrowsnap, Watchman
- Amelia Cane, Guardsman Recruit

Having noticed a shortage of new blood in the form of recruits about the Baronship, I decided it'd be worthwhile to test the waters of New Haven and see what kind of fish we could catch.

So I assembled all the necessary supplies we'd need to set up a proper stall: Banners, leaflets, runes, and torches. Then I gathered the guardsmen milling about the barracks and sent them off to New Haven to help me spread the word.

I arrived first and began to set up the stall, but almost immediately Amelia met me and began shouting to every passerby about the Baronship. The other guardsmen I brought along straggled in and either manned the stall or spread out around New Haven proper to hand out leaflets and inspire the local people.

Garand spoke to a woman obsessed with her looks, but even when we promised that Cove had a good surgeon that could alter her face, she still wouldn't sign up on the spot. However she was interested. Thomas Sendrich stood in the center of town and spoke of Cove's heroes gone by to inspire the masses.
Amelia did very well for a recruit, and was very active in trying to wrangle the slippery locals. She even managed to speak to a strange man who called himself the Prince of the Bolg people. Clearly insane, but she nearly tricked him into joining the Baronship!

Everyone did very well and was very vocal and active during the 45 minutes or so that we manned the stall. I sent them all home when I'd decided the river had run dry there, but we left the stall up with stacks of leaflets set up in case someone new happened by. Hopefully we'll see an influx of recruits as a result of the stall!

*Signed gracefully*

*Chortles* - A like.. fat old posh man laugh kinda of like 'Hohohohoho'. I know I -am- English and had no idea what that was to begin with. I had to ask my brain (Hoagie) what it meant.

I never knew exactly what that meant either so I guessed/assumed it was like a gutteral laugh with lots of snorting involved, hehe.

When you see an emote or word you don't understand, write it down then search for it later at dictionary.com to find the meaning. Or use a free online translator to get it translated into your native language.

We don't need a thread explaining what every possible emote is someone might use when you can look the words up yourself. Smiley

And snickers is the same as sniggers Wink

I'm up for it as long as there are some standard rules and whatnot. Some of the bidding last night was pretty silly (silly as in funny, not stupid), hehe  Cheesy

24  In Character Boards / Old Events / [Complete] New Haven Recruitment Stall - Wednesday 8th of August 9pm GMT on: August 07, 2007, 06:19:21 pm
As part of our grand scheme of getting more fodder recruits into the army, I will be setting up a modest recruitment stall in the city of New Haven.

I will be needing some assistants to help spread the word and shepherd the new recruits back to the Baronship. So please come prepared to shout for, schmooze, browbeat and/or bribe anyone we deem fit for military service and get them signed up!

I'll especially be on the lookout for the cream of the crop to join up as potential Dragoons, so currently serving or aspiring Dragoons are especially welcome.

I don't think it's still in Beta. Didn't they declare it gold and are having all new players download it instead of the 2D? I know I've recruited a couple who didn't even know there was a 2D client.

Even if it is beta, it's still far too unfinished to even be called that in my opinion.

I think he's putting this idea forward more to EA than to us. I don't see how we can give our members extra skill points...

I'm optimistic. After a good bit of work I think it'll be reasonably good. Give it a few more months and stuff'll be ironed out.

It needs a lot more than ironing out of some bugs. The thing is clearly only half-finished and needs a lot more work to even be passable; let alone compete with the 2D client.
