Players have houses all over the lands, from Felucca to Malas and everywhere in between. It doesn't affect you roleplaying a Covian or indeed roleplaying in Cove and it shouldn't mean that BoC guild events are held at these far flung locations while buildings such as the Green Goblin, Town Hall and Memorial Square go to waste, not to mention actually hosting events and roleplaying the people of Cove in Cove town itself.

As for having homes in enemy territory and how it effects individuals IC, forgive me but i don't see how it does.
If you are in your home no-one can
"see" through walls, no-one can
"see" your guild tag and no-one would have any reason to enter your home unannounced or uninvited. If they do it is poor RP on their behalf. If you are walking unarmed to your residence and encounter hostile forces the odd insult may be exchanged but if you make it clear you are headed home then no violence should ensue. Again if it does it is poor RP and the chances are unlikely anyway.

Unfortunately when trying to co-ordinate large multi guild scenarios such as the Border Wars Campaign and the events and consequences such campaigns entail it is not only impossible but impractical to legislate for every BoC member's house when drawing up battle lines. Hence the military strongpoints of the Altmere Outpost and the then Grenadier HQ were chosen as suitable fall back locations should the allied forces fail to win the day, rather than having a border weaving around every BoC owned house in the area.
With that said, for people who do want to relocate closer to Cove there are several spaces for housing dotted around the Baronship and i know that Garak Nightchill has offered to give the stable building up to any BoC member who is interested too. There's also a building near the town gates decaying so there is plenty of scope to place a house in Cove.
I guess it's a choice of how much people really want to move to Cove against how much they value larger plots elsewhere.

To me the issue isn't about where people place their houses, the location of character's homes are irrelevant. It's about holding guild events and roleplaying in Cove. Not anywhere else and certainly not in enemy territory. IC it just wouldn't happen and to do so is disrespectful to the controlling guild.
We are roleplaying the community of Cove so it follows that the everyday events of the lives of our characters should be centred around Cove and not anywhere else no? If someone wants the services of a blacksmith or alchemist they shouldn't have to leg it a dozen screens to try and find one. Surely the Covians roleplaying such characters and offering these services would be found in the hustle and bustle of Cove town and the Baronship Household?
We ARE the Baronship of Cove. Not the Baronship of Altmere or anywhere else afterall.
