So, making a return etc, my laptop dont wish to patch, windwos 7 yadada, so what does one do?

Any technicians or cyber wizards out there, or someone with a A level in it or just general know how...?

You can download the up-to-date version on UO.com, I believe. Go under free trial, download Legacy client, etc.

That, or you can try what I did to get it to work; uncheck "read only" in all of the game files' properties bars (or do it on the main file and tell it to do it to all files within as well), set the patcher to run in compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 3, then run the patcher, specifying that you with to Run As Administrator.

That worked for me. I'm uncertain which one did the trick, I just sort of did everything I could think of doing and then threw in the Run As Admin bit for lulz.

The only issue I had was with UOAssist asking you to link it to some patch files, that can be alittle tricky to find, although I managed it with abit of trial and error.

S'probably "Run As Administrator" that did it, although I can't say for certain as I'm not even remotely familiar with the technical side of computing. However, when I was looking into installing Sims 3 on the laptop a bunch of their forum devotees constantly made reference to the administrator function. Either way....
