Report of the "Tournament of Tournaments" Mage duels

Led by: Ringmaster Regular Guardsman Kas Valentine.

Attended by
: Junior Scout Ben Radau, Regular Guardsman Kas Valentine, Maestro Odenetheus, Captain Tweeso, Lyim Rashidat.

Officer Cadet Delcarakdur approached me after the promotions parade this evening and asked if I could set up and organise the Mage duels for his tournament. I agreed and set off to Britain with Officer Cadet Vince Valentine and Junior Guardsman Olchafa Serpernt to gather a hefty supply of communication crystals with which to make a distinctly "arcane" duelling square.

Once back at Cove I laid out my instructions to Olchafa;

Kas Valentine; "Alright chief we need to set these little crystals up in a square big enough for people to duel in. Now when I say big I mean it, any mage worth his salt sports a good fat belly and so we'll need room for them to maneuver."

Once the crystals and benches were arranged Delcarakdur explained his "Tournament of Tournaments" to the crowd.

Delcarakdur addressing the "unruly" crowd.

At the end of his speech the crowd cheered and the tournament was in full swing. However I do not have a whole lot of experience when it comes to this sort of thing so the Mage duels began with a sort of relaxed excitement. I reluctantly took center stage in the Mage square and requested that anyone wishing to join should put their names down in my little notebook.

You know what they say about men with little books, s'right, BIG handwriting.

Kas Valentine: "Alright we seem to have a few names down for the duels now, please take your seats and we will begin shortly."

The final list for the duels looked like this;

Ben Radau
Captain Tweeso
Kas "Handsome" Valentine
Lyim Rashidat
Maestro Odenetheus

I gave a quick explanation of the rules;

No summons or area spells.
No protection spells.

Break my rules and I'll break yer legs.

...and then began the duels !

While the contenders fought amongst themselves with fire and poison I sat and made a few sketches;

Lyim versus Tweeso, big man versus little man.

Odenetheus versus Tweeso, a hair raising spectacle.

Unfortunately there was something of a scandal in the Mage square during the tournament. The duels were going fine until the fight between Odenetheus and Ben Radau. The dwarf was not keen on the prospect of fighting the Nujelm noble and this was only worsened when the first of their fights was called off due to Odenetheus running out of reagents. Voices were raised, tempers flared and before I knew it the mighty dwarf had pulled out of the duels.

Not long afterward the mighty gnome Tweeso also pulled out of the tournament due to Odenetheus, this time on the grounds of assault. All in all it was a very dramatic duelling session with some spectacular fights;

Ben versus Tweeso;
Winner: Ben.

Ben versus Lyim;
Winner: Lyim.

Lyim versus Tweeso;
Winner: Lyim.

Kas versus Lyim;
Winner: Kas.

Kas versus Odenetheus;
Winner: Kas.

Lyim versus Odenetheus;
Winner: Lyim.

Odenetheus versus Tweeso;
Winner: Odenetheus by default.

Ben versus Odenetheus;
Winner: Odenetheus by default.

And the final fight.....

Lyim versus Kas;
Winner: Kas.

The winners podium;

1st: Kas "Handsome" Valentine awarded with a cheque for 15,000gp.
2nd: Lyim Rashidat awarded with a cheque for 10,000gp.
3rd: Odenetheus awarded with a cheque for 5,000gp.

I was sorry to see Ben and Tweeso pull out of the tournament but nonetheless I thank them very much for taking part, along with our other contenders, Lyim and Odenetheus. As I mentioned earlier I'm not terribly schooled up in the running of tournaments so I simply had the people that won the most fights fight each other in the final. I must also note that by the time we had finished the main duels there was not time to commence with the summon fights as originally proposed by Delcarakdur, my apologies for that.

I hope it proved to be good watching for the crowd !

*nods sadly*
If this is the way it was then it was...
Just to correct Kas, though he was quite busy and therefor didnīt get everything:

while I fought the Odenething he suddenly declared to be ran out of reagents. Instead of stoping the duell he simply tried to organize some from them Lym-manling. The fight NEVER stoped! When I finally had him down the Lym-manling interfered, attacked me and knocked me while I was still focused on the traitor Odenething. Odenething NEVER won, but I got the blame, something I couldnīt accept and so quit the tournament.
*the handwriting gets more distinct*
Nevertheless I will get my revenge on the Odenething, soon-ex-manling and restless soul...

Seems like our dear dwarf got issues with the Nujelmian authorities... We wouldn't want this to turn into a diplomacy accident for our dear Baron now do we...?

Ah yes my apologies there Ben, as you mentioned I was a little overwhelmed by the sudden burden of responsibility. But those events did actually occur, I distinctly remember the e-bolts flying in your direction. I'm sorry that your stint in the tournament ended in such a disorderly fashion.

My apologies !
